Born in Berlin. Raised in Kansas City. Made in Chicago.
Cynthia Kaye McWilliams trained at The Theatre School at DePaul University and started working in Chicago film and television before a series took her to Los Angeles. Today she is Cathy Montgomery, a series regular on Average Joe. Two decades of network, cable and streaming led there: Prison Break, Real Husbands of Hollywood opposite Kevin Hart, Nashville, Bosch, Prince of Peoria, Coyote, and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey with Samuel L. Jackson.
In the booth she is Gamora in Marvel's What If…?, Vicki Vale in Merry Little Batman and Bat-Fam, Senna in League of Legends, Holly Tanaka in Halo 5 (voice and motion capture) and T-Bug in Cyberpunk 2077, among a long list of animation and game credits.
When the industry moved to self-tapes and she found herself shooting out of state most of the year, she moved home to the city that adopted her. In Chicago she founded CynCity Productions: original scripts, a teaching-set model that pairs emerging local talent with veterans, and distribution on her own terms. Its first series, Messy Lola, is streaming now. Its first feature, Fried Catfish, is seeking distribution.
Off camera she is an advocate for equity in entertainment, using her platform to lift underrepresented voices, stories and artists.
